The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has paid the 2018 West Africa Examination Council, WAEC, examination fees of 432 indigent students across Kwara Central Senatorial District, amounting to N10.8 million.

The beneficiaries were selected through the intervention of the Kwara State chapter of All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS. Speaking at the presentation of cash in Ilorin, Senator Saraki said the rationale behind the gesture was to show that every child was important. Represented by the Director General, ABS Constituency Office, Mr. Musa Abdullahi, the Senate President noted that he was aware of the effects of the current economic situation, hence the intervention.

He added that the selection of beneficiaries was devoid of tribal, religious and political sentiments, and that some were not indigenes of the state.

Speaking on behalf of ANCOPS, Mr. Olohuntoyin Abdullahi applauded Saraki and urged other well-to-do individuals in the society to emulate him in order to reduce the sufferings of the people.

He noted that education was not to scramble for white collar jobs, but to be able to separate right from wrong through which one knows the pathway.
