The Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Mr Deji Tinubu, is dead.
Sources say Deji, who was the former Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, died late on Thursday ( yesterday night) during a novelty match in the Epe area of Lagos State.
Lagos State Executive members and other top government functionaries are in Epe for a retreat. It was gathered that Tinubu slumped in the field and was confirmed dead at a hospital in Epe.
Deji was the son of the late Chief Kafaru Oluwole Tinubu and the younger brother of Wale Tinubu, Oando CEO. He was also the nephew of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Were tributes, eulogies and tears potent enough to rouse a dead man, Deji would have reconsidered spending a few more days before plunging into his eternal sleep. But as family and friends converged at his family house this early morning for a condolence visit, affirming, albeit sadly, the young and fun-loving dude who was very much loved is gone forever.
A sudden pall then suddenly descended on the retreat. No official of the Lagos State Government was ready to speak on the demise last night.
Tinubu was formerly Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission and Special Adviser on Sports and was only recently removed and appointed SA in the Office of the Governor.
He is survived by his wife, Yemisi(née Majekodunmi), children, his mother, Chief Bintu Fatima Tinubu, the Iyalode of Lagos and many siblings.
