A young Nigerian, Olumayowa Elegbede, has taken the initiative to make some extra cash for himself after discovering the negligence and unprofessional act from the Minister of Aviation and the Agency managing the launch of the National Carrier.
The long awaited National Carrier was launched on the 19th of July 2018 in London after many failed promises witnessed by various stakeholders in the aviation sector as the take off is scheduled to happen later in the year.
The Minister of Aviation and the Agency responsible for managing the project allegedly forgot to purchase a domain name and build an official website for the new National Carrier.
In the light of this, a smart “lazy Nigerian youth” took it upon himself to take advantage of the lacklustre attitude of the government by buying and registering all the available domain name related to Nigerian Air. However, Olumayowa went ahead to put up the domain names online for sales at the rate of $66,489 which is equivalent to 24Million Naira.
What a smart move!
In this present age of technology, Nigerians who are tech-savvy have been asking questions as to why the agency didn’t see the need to register a website for National carrier before making the name public.
How on earth will our dear Minister launch a National carrier without involving the tech savvy and vibrant people in such a laudable project?
Which website does the Minister expect Nigerians/customers to visit and find out about the products and services of the National Carrier?
Besides, the Vice President of the country has been launching ICT hubs recently in the Silicon Valley of Nigeria (Yaba). And it was gathered that the logo for the National Carrier was outsourced from Bahrain.
How do we then balance these?
We hope things like this would put other agencies on their feet to avert such occurrences in the future.
