Like Lagos And Abuja, Ekiti Eases COVID-19 Lockdown

Givernor Kayode Fayemi has said the lockdown it imposed in Ekiti on March 29 to curb the spread of coronavirus will gradually be lifted from Monday.

Furthermore, according to the new directive, business activities to open only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7am– 4 pm only.

to feed their families and not wait solely on government for palliatives.

Furthermore, Governor Kayode Fayemi, who stated these in a statewide broadcast on Monday night,

added that businesses that do not comply with the COVID-19 protocols will receive 6 months shutdown.

Fayemi stated:

“Restriction of movement enforced 4 days a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays).

“Only essential services including food, medical, beverages, petroleum, banks,

agriculture, construction, select media and telecommunications exempted

from the restriction. Violators will prosecuted and fined or imprisoned,” he stressed.

While the lockdown restricted, Fayemi said other measures

such as social distancing and the ban on mass gatherings remain in place.

“No religious, social, political and educational gathering allowed to

hold in Ekiti State until the pandemic brought under control.

“Any facility that violates this directive shut down for not less than 12 months

“All travel from and into Ekiti State hereby banned as all boundaries of Ekiti State on lockdown 24 hours daily.

“Only food, medical, beverages, petroleum, agriculture and construction

supply trucks exempted but they cannot have more than three persons per truck.

“Any vehicle caught in violation may be forfeited to the state and passengers prosecuted.

“Wearing of face masks now compulsory in Ekiti State. Everyone

must wear a face mask when going out of the home so you don’t spread the virus to others.

“Residents advised to make their own masks while government will

provide masks for essential duty workers only. Guidelines on how to

make them will be provided,” he ordered.
