Iran, on Sunday, recorded its highest single-day Coronavirus death toll after confirming 49 COVID-19 deaths within 24 hours.

Iran’s health ministry confirmed the development on Sunday.

With the new figure, Iran’s total number of people that have died from COVID-19 has hit 194.

The Middle East country’s death toll is one of the highest outside China, where the virus was first reported in December 2019.

COVID-19 is said to have spread to all of Iran’s 31 provinces with over 6,566 confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, globally, the virus has reportedly killed over 3,200 and infected over 100,000 people across over 70 countries.
