Petty, 41, was convicted for the attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl in 1995.

He served almost 4 years in NY state prison for the crime and was required to register as a s*x offender.

However, he failed to do so until he was pulled over by Beverly Hills Police in November of last year after which he was arrested when they discovered he had not registered as a s*x offender.

His bail was set at $20,000 and he was ordered at the time to register as a s*x offender in California.

“He was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship,” Minaj said in his defense in December 2018.

“But go awf, internet, y’all can’t run my life. y’all can’t even run y’all own life.” She added

However, Petty still did not register as a s*x offender after being told to so the second time.

After his arrest, he was arraigned before a court and pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors wanted Petty placed on house arrest, but his attorney objected and instead Petty is being required to wear an ankle monitor. He will also have a curfew.
Petty’s lawyer says he’s going to post $100,000 bond later today. Petty will also be under pretrial supervision and has already surrendered his passport. His travel will be restricted to Southern California.
