As part of their corporate social responsibility, the chairman of Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, Chief Reggie Uduhiri in collaboration with Star Ultra Deep Petroleum and Chevron Nigeria Limited has donated some educational materials and teaching aides to five schools in Imo State.Similar donations had been made in Ebony and Ogun states recently.

The State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, represented by his Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu, received the items including refrigerators, books and science equipment as well as desktop computers worth millions of naira.

Uduhiri disclosed that the group had recently trained about 100 teachers selected from various schools across the local councils in the state on modern teaching skills and methodology; Information and Communication Technology (ICT), as well as classroom management and ethics hoping that they would impart the students.

The company boss added that the outfit is working with the Imo State Government and the Federal Ministry of Education, to enhance quality in the sector.He said, ‘’We are working with our partners to assist the government of Imo State and the Federal Ministry of Education to move the standard of education to an enviable level. The company is committed to ensuring that our youths acquire the necessary educational skills for a better life.”

Uduhiri, disclosed that the group sponsored 140 economic development programmes in Anambra, Niger, Oyo and Rivers States, to build capacity in young Nigerians and make them self reliant.

Director of Star Ultra Deep Petroleum Limited, Kennedy Richard, said in addition to sustainable programmes in education, a total of 1,432 Imo indigenes have benefitted from similar projects, adding that between 2015 and 2017, 165 students benefitted from the NNPC/CNL joint venture scholarship programmes.

Responding, Nwosu who was accompanied by the Commissioner for Basic Education, Mrs. Gertrude Oduka urged the pupils and teachers to jealously guard the items and keep them safe.
