Leighandre Jegels, the world karate, continental and South African boxing female champion, was killed by gunshot on Friday, by her boyfriend who is a Police officer whom she had a protection order against.
Her mother was also shot in the incident and was immediately rushed to an East London hospital.
The boyfriend, 37 years old was later arrested by the Police after the hired white Mercedes-Benz he drives had an accident.
Another person was also killed in the accident while four others were injured.
Jegels and the accused used to live together in Cove Rock until she got a protection order against him.
The South African boxer has been reporting allegations of domestic violence against him.
Jegels had been training for her ring return against Siphosethu Nxazonke in a junior-bantamweight non-title clash scheduled to hold in Mthatha on October 2.
