Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against the alleged plan to remove the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, had on Saturday alleged that there are plans by President Muhammadu Buhari to suspend INEC Chairman,Yakubu.

CUPP also alleged that President Buhari wants to replace Yakubu with Amina Zakari as Acting Chairman under the guise of INEC’s inability to conduct the presidential and National Assembly elections today.

According to CUPP, Buhari wants to sack INEC Chairman for refusing to conduct staggered election today.

But, reacting, Omokri warned President Buhari against replacing Yakubu with Zakari.

The former presidential Spokesman warned that such replacement was capable of ‘pushing Nigerians to the wall’ ahead of the elections.

Omokri on his Twitter page wrote: “Let me warn President Buhari not to push Nigerians to the wall by sacking the INEC boss and replacing him with his niece by marriage, Amina Zakari.

“If he must sack Professor Mahmood, Buhari must not replace him with Amina Zakari.”
