A public university in South Africa has joined the group of TV BRICS partners in science and higher education.
According to TV BRICS, a NAN partner, the University of Venda (UNIVEN), a member of the BRICS Network University, joined the group.
A cooperation agreement between the two institutions was signed at the TV BRICS headquarters in Moscow on Oct. 15.
TV BRICS Chief Executive Officer and Editor-in-Chief Janna Tolstikova and Prof. Fulufhelo Netswera, Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Venda, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
Under the agreement, the partners will jointly implement information and educational projects, promote scientific research findings and support the development of professional and expert communities.
Their cooperation will also focus on strengthening humanitarian ties with BRICS member states and partner countries.
“The University of Venda and TV BRICS’ partnership will strengthen the University of Venda’s vision of becoming a leading university in engaged scholarship.
“Its fourth strategic thrust of internationalisation and partnerships embeds UNIVEN within the global academic community.
“Importantly, the partnership between UNIVEN and TV BRICS will illuminate the University of Venda globally and in particular in the Global South,” Netswera said.
Established in 1982, the University of Venda is located in Thohoyandou, Limpopo Province, South Africa.

UNIVEN contributes to the development of Africa’s human capital by training specialists in demand in local and international markets.
Tolstikova expressed gratitude to the university’s leadership and staff for their initiative and commitment to the partnership.
By establishing direct cooperation with educational institutions and research centres in different countries, TV BRICS is creating a common information space that reflects the scientific and educational potential of BRICS.
