BREAKING: Premier League Manager, Eddie Howe Quits Newcastle
Eddie Howe will stand down from his position as Newcastle boss in the coming days, according to The Athletic.
The 48-year-old told the club that he wants to take a break from football and the two parties have agreed to split ahead of the new Premier League season, Telegraph Sport understands.
As first reported by The Athletic, Howe is to be replaced by German coach Matthias Jaissle, who currently manages Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli.
Like Newcastle, Al Ahli are owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and talks with the 38-year-old are understood to be at an advanced stage.
Howe led Newcastle to their first trophy in 70 years by winning the 2025 Carabao Cup, but his exit follows a series of high-profile departures that saw midfielder Sandro Tonali and winger Anthony Gordon leave, as well as doubt over the future of captain Bruno Guimaraes.
