Panic Moment Gov Adeleke And Other’s Falls Moment Stage Collapses At Campaign Rally [VIDEO]
There was panic on Wednesday after a stage collapsed during the inauguration of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election canvassers in Ijebu-Jesa, Ori-Ade Local Government Area of Osun State.
THe Genius Media Nigeria understands that the incident occurred while the governor was attending the event alongside his sister, Chief Modupe Adeleke, Chief of Staff Kazeem Akinleye and other top government officials.
The dignitaries were seated on the stage when the structure suddenly gave way, causing several people to fall.
Governor Adeleke had arrived at the venue with members of his entourage and was received by the spokesperson for his re-election campaign council, Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi.
The stage was heavily crowded with political appointees, party members, aides and security operatives.
The situation reportedly became worse when many of those on the platform stood up simultaneously during the programme.
Adeleke rose from his seat to acknowledge and cheer supporters gathered at the venue.
Others on the stage reportedly joined in the celebration, causing the structure to oscillate.
The movement eventually led to the collapse of the stage, throwing the governor, his sister, the chief of staff, the campaign council spokesperson and several other party chieftains to the ground.
The incident created panic among supporters and attendees, with security operatives and aides rushing to rescue the affected dignitaries.
The collapse reportedly left some members of the Accord Party and event officials with varying degrees of injuries.
However, there was no immediate official confirmation of the number of people injured or the extent of their injuries.
The condition of Governor Adeleke was also not immediately known as security personnel quickly assisted him and other top officials away from the collapsed structure.
Following the incident, organisers were forced to bring the programme to an abrupt end.
The event could not continue because the collapsed stage left no suitable platform for further activities.
