BREAKING: Federal Government Declares May 1 Public Holiday For Workers’ Day
The Federal Government has declared Friday, May 1, 2026, a public holiday to mark this year’s International Workers’ Day.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo commended Nigerian workers for their dedication and contributions to national development, noting that their efforts remain central to the country’s growth and prosperity. He urged workers to sustain values of patriotism, productivity, and commitment to duty.
The minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, strengthening security, and creating an enabling environment for economic progress.
He encouraged Nigerians to mark the occasion peacefully and reflect on the importance of unity and diligence in nation-building.
