Iran’s military has declared it will close the Strait of Hormuz indefinitely if United States President, Donald Trump, bombs Iranian power plants.

Iran’s armed forces headquarters issued the warning Sunday in direct response to Trump’s 48-hour ultimatum.
The military said if America strikes Iran’s power plants, the Strait of Hormuz will remain completely closed until Iran rebuilds the destroyed facilities.

The Genius Media Nigeria earlier reported that Trump threatened to destroy Iranian power plants if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. Trump set a Monday evening deadline.

Iran Expands Threats To Regional Infrastructure

Meanwhile, in response to Trump’s threat, Iran’s military has also threatened to target all Israeli energy and communications infrastructure, as well as “similar companies in the region with US shareholders.”

“Power plants of regional countries hosting US bases will be legitimate targets for us,” the military headquarters added.

Additionally, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf also warned earlier Sunday that critical infrastructure and energy facilities in the Middle East could be “irreversibly destroyed” if Iranian power plants come under attack. Qalibaf posted the warning on X.

The exchange of threats escalates tensions between Tehran and Washington as Trump’s Monday evening deadline approaches.

Iran has blocked oil passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which handles roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supplies. The closure has triggered a global energy crisis. Although Tehran has repeatedly says that the Strait is not closed but “Closed to enemies and their allies.”
