JUST IN: Senior Member Of Jamaa Islamiya Terror Group Arrested By IDF
The Israeli military has announced the arrest of a senior member of the Jamaa Islamiya group during an overnight operation in the Har Dov area.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) disclosed this in a statement posted on its official 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, noting that the operation was intelligence-driven and carried out by its troops.
According to the military, the suspect was apprehended during a coordinated raid and subsequently transferred to Israel for further interrogation.
Weapons were also recovered at the scene of the operation.
“APPREHENDED: A senior terrorist from the Jamaa Islamiya terrorist organization was apprehended overnight by IDF troops during a targeted intelligence-based operation in the Har Dov area,” the statement read.
“The terrorist was transferred for further questioning in Israel. Weapons were also located at the site.”
TGM understands that Al-Jama’a al-Islamiyya is a Sunni faction that forms part of the broader Muslim Brotherhood political network.
The armed wing of the group, the al-Fajr Forces, established in the 1980s, repeatedly targeted Israel from Lebanon amid the 2023-2024 war with Hezbollah, often working in conjunction with the Shiite Lebanese terror group.
The IDF alleged that Jamaa Islamiya has been involved in attacks targeting Israel and civilians in the northern region since the outbreak of the ongoing conflict.
“Throughout the war, the Jamaa Islamiya terrorist organization advanced terror attacks against Israel and its civilians in the north,” the military added.
Naija News reports that the latest operation comes amid continued military activities and heightened tensions in the region as Israeli forces sustain efforts to curb attacks and dismantle armed groups.
