BREAKING: Sack Eric Chelle Or Face Sack, Maharaji Send Stern Warning To NFF
FOUNDER of the One Love Family and spiritual leader, SatGuru Maharaji, has issued a stern warning to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), calling for the immediate dismissal of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle and the appointment of a Nigerian coach — or risk being “fired” for mismanagement.
Speaking in comments quoted by The Nation, Maharaji said the continued reliance on foreign coaches was against divine direction and detrimental to Nigeria’s football development.
According to him, the NFF and Nigerians must abandon what he described as an unhealthy dependence on European technical expertise and instead trust indigenous capacity to lead the national team.
“Irrespective of the challenges that the Nigerian coach may be experiencing in the job, he must not be sacked. Every new era, every fresh order, has its natural teething-stage,” Maharaji said.
He argued that Nigeria’s football problems cannot be solved by constantly turning to foreign managers, stressing that the practice reflects a deeper issue of misplaced confidence in external systems.
“NFF (and Nigerians as a whole) should stop patronising the manipulative intelligence of Europeans, through the wrongful amalgamation that we are trying to put right to ensure that human rights, freedom and liberty for all, is no longer abused,” he added.
Maharaji urged the football authorities to appoint a competent Nigerian as Super Eagles coach, preferably a former international with a strong understanding of the team’s culture and expectations. He specifically mentioned ex-Super Eagles stars such as Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Amunike, and Fani Amun as suitable candidates.
According to the spiritual leader, former national players possess both the technical experience and patriotic commitment required to guide the Super Eagles successfully.
Issuing what he described as a divine warning, Maharaji cautioned that failure to heed his advice would attract serious consequences for those running Nigerian football.
“I look forward to having NFF heed this Divine advice this time around, if they do not want to be dissolved or fired for mismanagement and high-handed disrespect to human life,” he warned.
The comments come amid growing debate over the direction of the Super Eagles and renewed criticism of the NFF’s handling of coaching appointments, with calls from various quarters for greater local involvement in the management of Nigeria’s national teams.
