WAWU!!! Supercomputer Reveals Potential AFCON 2025 Winner
A prediction from betting analytics platform PolyMarket has tipped hosts Morocco to lift the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy as the tournament enters the semi-final stage.
Only four countries remain in the hunt for continental glory, with Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal and hosts Morocco left standing.
In the semi-final fixtures, Senegal face Egypt at 6 p.m. later today with a place in the final at stake, before Nigeria lock horns with the Atlas Lions.
According to PolyMarket’s Supercomputer predictions, Morocco are the favourites, handed a 37 per cent chance of winning the tournament on home soil.
Senegal follow with a 28 per cent probability, while Nigeria have been given a 25 per cent chance of securing a fourth AFCON title. Egypt, the most successful nation in the competition’s history, are rated outsiders at 13 per cent.
Despite the odds, confidence remains sky-high in the Nigerian camp. Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has insisted the team will approach the semi-final clash with the same belief and intensity that has carried them this far.
The Super Eagles have been one of the standout sides of the tournament, earning plaudits for a string of commanding performances. Under head coach Éric Chelle, Nigeria have won all five of their matches and boast the competition’s most potent attack, scoring 14 goals so far.
“We are coming into the semi-final against the host Morocco with the same mentality we’ve had in previous games,” Iwobi said during his interaction with the media in Rabat on Tuesday.
“We hope to achieve the same results we’ve been getting, having won our last five matches.”
The eagerly anticipated semi-final will take place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. Kick-off is scheduled for 9pm Nigeria time, with a place in Sunday’s final up for grabs.
