BREAKING: Nwabali Cleared As CAF Sends List of Super Eagles Players Banned For AFCON 2025 Semi-Final
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued an official CAF Nwabali suspension update following confusion over the Super Eagles goalkeeper’s yellow card.
CAF confirmed that Stanley Nwabali’s caution during Nigeria’s quarter-final match was correctly recorded. However, the booking does not result in suspension.
CAF Explains Nwabali Yellow Card Decision
According to CAF, Nwabali’s yellow card remains valid under tournament rules. The caution was reviewed after public debate.
CAF stressed that the goalkeeper did not accumulate enough bookings to warrant a ban. He is therefore cleared for the semi-final.
The clarification was sent directly to the Nigeria Football Federation. The message eased concerns within the Super Eagles camp.

Alongside the clarification, CAF forwarded an official list of Super Eagles players suspended for the semi-final.
The affected players were banned due to accumulated yellow cards. CAF rules mandate automatic suspension after two bookings.
Only yellow cards before the quarter-final stage are cleared. Cards received later remain active.
NFF Acknowledges CAF Communication
Sources within the NFF confirmed receipt of CAF’s letter. The coaching crew has adjusted preparations accordingly.
The Super Eagles continue training with focus and determination. The team remains confident despite the enforced absences.
Nigeria is chasing a place in the AFCON final. Discipline and tactical discipline will be crucial in the semi-final clash.
Meanwhile the letter confirmed the suspension of captain of the Nigerian team Wilfred Ndidi, who was booked against Mozambique in the round of 16 and against Tunisia in the quarter final.
Ndidi is the only Nigerian player who will miss the game against Morocco due to suspension.
