Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, has promised to pay all the match bonuses for the Super Eagles players and coaching staff if the federal government of Nigeria fails to settle it before Saturday.

According to Ndidi, he doesn’t want the unpaid bonuses to affect the preparations for the team’s next games at the ongoing AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco.

The midfielder was quoted to have made the commitment by sports journalist, Oluwashina Okeleji on Thursday.

“I’ve been pushing the team to train and play the game vs Algeria. I’ve been doing this since the second game. I’ve now made a commitment to the staff and players that I’ll personally pay the bonuses if the authorities fail to before Saturday.

“I don’t want these unpaid bonuses to affect our preparations. I told players and coaching staff that I’d personally make the payments if they don’t get it,” the journalist wrote via his 𝕏 account.

The Genius Media Nigeria recalls that fresh rows surfaced ahead of the Super Eagles’s quarter final clash against Algeria on Saturday, with the players reportedly deciding to boycott travel to Marrakech and skipped training on Thursday over unpaid bonuses for their three group stage fixtures and the round of 16.

However, the federal government, through the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, said the issues have been resolved and the Central Bank is in the process of paying the outstanding allowances to the players and coaches.
