The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered a formal investigation into multiple sexual allegations against the Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor.

The directive follows widespread outrage and viral social media posts detailing allegations from several women, including Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.

Speaking to Punch on Sunday, Lagos Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, had been instructed to take over the case.

“The CP has directed the SCID to invite the pastor for investigation, despite the fact that no one has formally come forward to report,” Adebisi said.

She added that the police would also summon alleged victims and witnesses to assist the investigation.

Saturday Punch earlier reported that Pastor Okafor stepped aside from ministerial duties on New Year’s Day as the allegations gained traction.

The storm began after his December 16, 2025, wedding to a new bride, Pearl, which was attended by prominent clerics.

Last Sunday, Okafor publicly apologised to actress Doris Ogala during a church service, admitting to “past mistakes” and seeking forgiveness while kneeling on the pulpit.

Ogala ignited the controversy on December 14 when she posted multiple emotional videos on Instagram, alleging a nine-year relationship with the pastor that began in 2017.

She accused Okafor of promising her marriage, sharing explicit content, and contributing to her divorce and emotional trauma.

In subsequent posts, Ogala claimed the pastor offered her $10,000 to retract her statements and blame a rival cleric for the scandal. She later demanded N1bn in damages, citing threats and intimidation after her arrest and detention.

As the scandal escalated, more women, including Okafor’s former wife, Bessem Okafor, came forward with allegations of infidelity, deception, and physical abuse.

Despite the flurry of claims, some church members interviewed by Saturday Punch defended Okafor, describing the allegations as an extortion attempt by disgruntled individuals targeting their spiritual leader.

Adebisi disclosed that she had personally reached out to a YouTuber who had interviewed the alleged victims to help connect investigators with witnesses.

“The CP also ordered that witnesses be brought forward to provide statements,” she noted.

The police said investigations would continue to establish the veracity of the claims and urged all parties involved to cooperate with the process.
