Ogun 2027: No Aspirant Matches Yayi’s Reach, Political Pedigree – Chief Olabimtan

ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE – Chief Muftau Olabimtan, Chairman of Afisola Nigeria Limited and the Yewa Frontier Group, has stated that no known governorship aspirant in Ogun State currently possesses the political reach, influence, and grassroots appeal required to effectively challenge Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

According to the Asoju Olu of Ilaro, Chief Olabimtan, the distinguished Senator Adeola’s extensive political network, deep-rooted grassroots connection, and proven electoral experience place him far ahead of other potential contenders, making him the dominant figure in the evolving political landscape of Ogun State..

Olabimtan made this assertion while responding to questions from journalists during an interaction at Yewa Frontier Hotel along Ilaro-Abeokuta Road, Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State.

He spoke at length on the evolving political landscape in Ogun State and the increasing relevance of the Yewa geopolitical zone in the state’s political calculations.

According to him, Senator Adeola’s political pedigree, legislative track record, and statewide visibility have placed him in a commanding position as discussions around the 2027 election continue to gain momentum.

“At the moment, I have not seen any other aspirant who can compete effectively with Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola across Ogun State”, Olabimtan stated.

The Asoju of the Olu of Ilaro-Yewa, a respected community leader and stakeholder in Yewaland, noted that Senator Adeola, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriation, has played a pivotal role in repositioning Yewa and the entire Ogun West at both state and national levels.

He explained that Adeola’s influence transcends senatorial boundaries, stressing that his projects, interventions, and political engagements cut across all three senatorial districts of Ogun State.

“Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola has repositioned Yewa politically and has the capacity to go far. His landmarks in and around Yewaland – and indeed across the three senatorial districts – are visible”, he said.

Olabimtan added that the visibility of these interventions has made Senator Adeola a household name in many communities across the state.

“Yayi has become a household name, not just in Yewa or Ogun West, but across Ogun State”, he added.

He also dismissed claims in some quarters that leaders from Yewaland are not engaging in political negotiations with other zones in the push to secure the governorship slot for the region.

Describing such claims as misleading, Olabimtan emphasized that politics thrives on dialogue, negotiation, and strategic alliances.

“The narrative that Yewa leaders are not negotiating with other districts in their bid to secure the number one seat of Ogun State is false”, he said.

He maintained that political engagements are ongoing behind the scenes, with Yewa stakeholders actively reaching out to other senatorial districts to build consensus ahead of 2027.

Olabimtan further stressed that Ogun politics cannot be pursued in isolation or with rigid thinking, noting that compromise and collaboration remain essential tools in democratic contestation.

“Politics is about negotiation and compromise. Our aspirant is well connected and negotiations are ongoing. Anyone saying otherwise is spreading misinformation”, he stated.

He urged political observers and commentators to avoid drawing conclusions based on speculation, adding that political consultations often take place quietly before becoming public.

Observers note that Yewaland’s renewed political confidence has been boosted by increased federal presence, infrastructural interventions, and growing advocacy for a power shift within Ogun State.

Many stakeholders believe the zone deserves a stronger voice in the state’s leadership structure after decades of political marginalization.

Olabimtan’s remarks reflect a growing sentiment among Yewa leaders that the region is better positioned than ever to assert and negotiate its interests within the broader Ogun political framework.

Although Senator Adeola has not officially declared his governorship ambition, his name continues to dominate political conversations, with supporters pointing to his legislative influence, cross-regional connections, and visible development footprint as key strengths.

As the 2027 general elections draw closer, political alignments across Ogun State are expected to intensify, with aspirants, stakeholders, and interest groups deepening consultations and strategic engagements.

For Olabimtan, the political reality remains clear: Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola stands out as a formidable figure whose influence cuts across party lines and geographical boundaries.

“The political space is open and discussions are ongoing. But as it stands today, Yayi’s reach across Ogun State is unmatched”, he concluded. #LOYAMP
