BREAKING: Orji Kalu Says 2027 Presidential Election Will Be Tinubu Vs Tinubu
The Genius MediaNigeria reports that The former Governor of Abia State and Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission (SEDC), Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has dismissed fears of serious opposition against President Bola Tinubu, saying the 2027 race would be “Tinubu versus Tinubu.”
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, Kalu said the ruling party remains united and focused on supporting the President’s economic and security agenda through legislative backing from the Senate under Godswill Akpabio’s leadership.
Addressing questions on the next presidential election he said, “Has he gotten anyone contesting against him? It’s Tinubu vs Tinubu, just like Soludo vs Soludo. The President has no rival. The APC is fully grounded and with the people.
“We are making laws to help the President overcome the economic hardship Nigerians are facing. The goal is simple: every Nigerian should be able to eat three times a day.”
Commenting on speculation that Abia State Governor Alex Otti might join the APC, Kalu said no one was being pressured to defect.
“Neither I, nor any APC leader, nor the President has forced anyone to join. I’ve spoken with my governor; he’s my brother and used to be my banker. Whether he joins or not is up to him.”
He also hinted that Anambra Governor Charles Soludo might eventually join the APC, describing him as a “progressive” who shares values with Tinubu, Akpabio, and other South-East leaders.
“Soludo is one of us, a progressive. He has no alternative than to come and join us. It’s confirmed.”
Speaking on reports of a plot to impeach Senate President Akpabio, Kalu described it as a brief misunderstanding among colleagues.
He said, “There were attempts, but we didn’t allow that to happen. We are one big family and it’s not going to happen.”
