BREAKING: After Ademola Lookman Clash, Atalanta Sack Coach Ivan Juric
Atalanta have sacked head coach Ivan Juric after Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat to newly-promoted Sassuolo, bringing an abrupt end to his short spell in charge.
Juric, appointed in the summer to succeed long-serving manager Gian Piero Gasperini, leaves the Serie A side sitting 13th on the table with just two wins from 11 league matches.
La Dea has endured a difficult run, collecting only six points from their last eight games and failing to win any of their last two league outings.
The Genius Media Nigeria reports that the Italian club announced the decision in a statement on Monday, November 10, 2025.
“Atalanta BC announces that Ivan Juric has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team, along with his closest staff members, Matteo Paro, Miguel Veloso, Pablo Barbero, Stjepan Ostojic, and Michele Orecchio.
“Atalanta thanks Ivan Juric and his staff for their efforts and wishes them all the best for the future,” the club statement reads.
The dismissal comes after the club had reportedly warned Juric that his performances in two key fixtures, against Marseille in the Champions League and Sassuolo in Serie A, would determine his future.
Ademola Lookman Clash
Although Atalanta defeated Marseille, the game was overshadowed by a heated touchline argument between Juric and Nigerian international Ademola Lookman.
The confrontation drew media attention and further intensified pressure on the coach.
The heavy 3–0 loss to Sassuolo at home ultimately sealed his fate.
Reports in Italy suggest that former Monza and Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino is the leading candidate to replace Juric.
Atalanta are expected to make an official announcement in the coming days as they seek to stabilise their season and revive hopes of climbing the Serie A table.
Juric’s exit marks the club’s first major managerial change since the Gasperini era, signalling growing urgency over poor performances this term.
