BREAKING: Finally, INEC Recognises David Mark-led ADC Leadership

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially acknowledged the new National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with former Senate President, David Mark, named as the party’s national chairman.

The Genius Media Nigeria confirms that the updated list of party executives has been uploaded to INEC’s website, confirming Mark’s leadership.

He is joined by Rauf Aregbesola, ex-Minister of Interior, as interim national secretary, and Bolaji Abdullahi, a former Minister of Sports, as the party’s spokesperson.

This development follows a decision in July when a group of opposition politicians and top ADC officials declared the party as the central platform for a coalition targeting the 2027 general elections.

Notable figures involved in the coalition include Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, Uche Secondus, and John Odigie Oyegun.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC)

The interim leadership was endorsed by ADC founder, Ralph Nwosu, who also announced the resignation of the former NWC. The party subsequently wrote to INEC seeking formal recognition of the new team, which has now been granted.

However, not all members of the party are on board with the move. Some internal stakeholders have raised concerns, describing the coalition effort as an attempt to “hijack” the party.

One such dissenting voice, Nafiu Bala, a former ADC governorship candidate in Gombe State, has declared himself as the party’s chairman.

In a similar tone, a group known as the Concerned State Chairmen of the ADC has rejected the coalition, urging the political heavyweights to “form their own party” and warning that “ADC is not for sale.”
