The Genius Media Nigeria reports that the South African aviation authorities are delaying in the issuance of a landing permit for the Nigerian Super Eagles, according to confirmed sources.

The Super Eagles is expected to travel to South Africa on Sunday in preparation for a match against South Africa on Tuesday but for reasons unknown, they are yet to be granted a landing permit.

The Super Eagles had just defeated Rwanda on Saturday evening in the World Cup Qualifiers.

The Nigerian team is set to fly to Bloemfontein on Sunday morning for the high-stakes match scheduled for Tuesday.

Some soccer buffs believe this may be a psychological tactic to gain an advantage over the visiting team.

The Super Eagles will need to put up a spirited performance against the Bafana Bafana to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive.

With South Africa topping Group C with 16 points and Nigeria trailing in third place with 10 points from seven matches, the stakes are high.

Benin Republic sits second with 11 points, making every match a do-or-die affair.
