JUST IN: At Last, IGP Takes Action On KWAM 1 Vs ValueJet Misconduct
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Tuesday, received petition from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over an incident involving Mr. Wasiu Ayinde Marshal better known as KWAM 1 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, orders the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command to commence investigation into the matter.

The musician reportedly held up an aircraft from taking off over from the Nigeria Civil Aviation over his refusal to obey the airline officers.
The investigation is coming on the heels of Sunday incident involving an air traveller and airline staff at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport leading to public outcry over the disparity in treatment of culprits in both incidents.
Media reports indicated that the NCAA had petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and the IGP to investigate the incident, which occurred during a scheduled ValueJet flight VK201 on August 7, 2025.
The authority alleged that Ayinde’s actions violated the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations; this is the Fuji star was subsequently placed on a no-fly list pending the outcome of the investigation.
Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a press statement, Tuesday evening in Abuja, acknowledged that: “The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has received an official petition from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over an alleged incident involving Mr. Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (popularly known as KWAM 1).
“He is accused of engaging in unruly conduct that allegedly obstructed the safe operation of an aircraft, in violation of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023 following a reported incident on August 5, 2025 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.”
He said the Police boss, “In response, has directed the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, to immediately commence a thorough investigation into the matter, to unravel the circumstances which led to the ugly incident and ensure justice is served accordingly.
“The Force, hereby, assures the public of its commitment to upholding safety and security within Nigeria’s aviation sector, while assuring stakeholders in the sector of improved collaboration towards aviation security and strict compliance with aviation laws.”
