The Genius MediaNigeria reports that Veteran journalist and ex-presidential candidate Dele Momodu has confirmed his departure from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), stating unequivocally that he now supports the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He also ruled out any association with the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the conduct and character of its members.

“My soul has left the PDP. I am a supporter of the ADC, and I have no business with the APC because of the nature and character of the operatives of that party,” Momodu said in a televised interview with ARISE News on Wednesday.

While noting that he is yet to formally register with the ADC, Momodu emphasized his ideological alignment with the emerging coalition and hinted that the registration process is underway. “In principle, I consider myself a member of the coalition; we need to go through the registration process,” he added.

The Ovation magazine publisher described his decision as being driven by disillusionment with the political status quo and revealed that most politicians at the recent coalition meeting were also aligning with the ADC.

“I was surprised to see the people I saw join the coalition; it is out of deep frustration. 99.9% of those in the coalition meeting have pledged to join the ADC,” he stated.

Momodu, who once ran for president under PDP, reiterated his long-standing support for parties he believes in, regardless of formal membership. “I have always been a fan of political parties. If I like a particular party, whether I join or not, I always support the party,” he said.

Online reactions to his announcement have been swift.
@AdaIgbo00 wrote, “Dele Momodu has spoken; he’s out of PDP, done with APC, and fully behind the ADC. The wave is real. 2027 just got serious.”

Another user, @DrKalu_PhD, added, “Peter Obi is coming.” @BigGini4, said the ruling party had buried itself long ago. “From now until 2027, our political space will be tense back-to-back. APC buried itself when they felt that in a democracy, a one-party system is ideal. Foolish people,” he posted.

The latest defection follows a wave of exits from both major parties, with figures like Rotimi Amaechi and Abubakar Malami already aligning with the coalition. Observers believe these realignments are setting the tone for what could be Nigeria’s most unpredictable election year yet.
