UTME 2025: Meet 15-Year-Old Afolabi Ayodeji Who Broke Decade-Long JAMB Record

History has been made in Nigeria’s educational landscape as 15-year-old Afolabi Olumide Ayodeji shatters a long standing record in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scoring an unprecedented 370, the highest mark recorded in over a decade.

For more than 10 years, no candidate nationwide has achieved this extraordinary feat.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) confirmed that no individual has scored 370 since at least 2013, making Afolabi’s achievement a true landmark in academic excellence.

The record is an all time one, since the commencement of JAMB CBT in 2013.

Afolabi, a brilliant young scholar with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, has become the pride of a nation hungry for positive youth representation.

A student of Icons Comprehensive College Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State, with his dedication, discipline, and academic prowess have not only earned himself this incredible score, but have also reignited a national conversation about nurturing young intellectual talent.

Today, we proudly unveil the face of this young prodigy to the world, a face that symbolizes brilliance, determination, and hope for the future of education in Nigeria.

Speaking on his achievement, Afolabi expressed humility and gratitude, as he said that, “I didn’t set out to break any record, I only wanted to give my best, I thank God, my parents, and my teachers for believing in me.”

This achievement serves as a clarion call to educational stakeholders, mentors, and policymakers to invest deeper in identifying and supporting gifted students across the nation.

Afolabi’s story is not just about one boy’s record breaking score, it is about what is possible when potential meets opportunity.
