BREAKING: Anxiety As NNPC Pipeline Leaks In Abule-Ado [PHOTOS]—-There were palpable fears as a petroleum pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) leaked at Alakija bus-stop, Abule-Ado area of Lagos.

The officials of  Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA), the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and NNPC have mobilised to the spot to prevent a possible explosion and further fix the damaged pipeline.

Confirming the incident to SlyeNews, Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said leaked pipeline was discovered around 1048hrs today and dangers of pipeline explosion has been averted.

He said investigations revealed that the pipeline was leaking due to activities of suspected vandals.

“Preliminary investigation conducted by the Agency’s Response Team revealed that the immediate cause of the leakage was due to the activity of some vandals on the valve at the scene,” he stated.

Oke-Osanyintolu said no loss of lives were recorded due to the incident and there were no injuries.

He said immediately, “The LASEMA Response Team (LRT), activated stage-1 Safety Measures, and cordoned-off the affected area; The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has blanketed the entire affected area cordoned-off; LASEMA’s Eagle Response Team liased with NNPC to activate their engineers to shut the leaking valve in the pipe.”

He said the technical team has fixed the leaking point in Alakija and the atmosphere is cool, calm and conducive now.
