Running from Lane 6, Ofili came second in the first semi final of the event recording a new season best time of 22.05 seconds to book her place in the final.

Thegazellenews.com had earlier reported that Ofili clocked 22.22 seconds to qualify for the semi final winning her heat which was her season best time then.

 

In the semi final, Ofili came up against newly crowned Olympic champion in the women 100m, Julien Alfred, and the athlete with the second fastest time this year, Mackenzie Long of America.

 

Alfred clocked 21.98 seconds to win the race while Long came in third.

Ofili thus, automatically qualified for the final.
