ABUJA: Kogi West senatorial district representative, Senator Dino Melaye, has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, have plans to use the N60 billion approved to support rice industry, for the 2019 election campaigns.

The Federal Government had yesterday approved the N60 billion subsidy to support the rice industry in the country.

Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe, disclosed this to State House correspondents after a meeting of the National Food Security Council presided over by President Buhari in Abuja on Friday.

The minister explained that the purpose of the subsidy is to help bring down the price of the commodity in the country.

But in reaction to the development, Melaye vowed to monitor how the fund will be spent.

He tweeted on Friday night, “60 billion Naira Presidential approval to boost rice industry is fundraising for APC towards the 2019 election.

“We shall monitor using binoculars the disbursement and implementation of the funds.”
