BREAKING: EX-Chelsea Boss Antonio Conte Replaces Thomas Tuchel At Bayern Munich?—Antonio Conte is reportedly keen on becoming the next Bayern Munich manager as the pressure ramps up on Thomas Tuchel.
The German giants have lost their last three matches as their season threatens to unravel. They are currently eight points adrift of Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and trail 1-0 heading into the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie against Lazio.
Tuchel appears to be hanging onto his job by a thread, and Bayern are understood to be monitoring former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as well as Xabi Alonso and Hansi Flick as they ponder making a change in the dugout
But Conte is also interested in replacing Tuchel, and has identified Bayern as the ‘dream club’ for his next move, according to Bild.
The former Chelsea and Tottenham manager has been out of work since leaving Spurs last March.
He won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2016-17, and also has four title from his time in Italy with Juventus and Inter Milan.
The 54-year-old now wants to win the Bundesliga, and is eyeing a return to the touchline to take charge of Bayern.
Bild reporter Christian Falk has also stated that Bayern are keeping tabs on Flick, who led them to a historic Treble in 2020, while Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness is a surprise candidate on their list of potential replacements for Tuchel.
Hoeness has guided Stuttgart to third in the Bundesliga, and they are just four points behind Bayern, but any approach for him would not happen until the summer at the earliest.
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has given Tuchel his backing for now, but the ex-Chelsea boss is running out of time to turn things around.
His Bayern side were dismantled by Leverkusen in the league earlier this month, and slumped to a shock 3-2 defeat at VfL Bochum on Sunday.
Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich was reportedly involved in a heated confrontation with Tuchel’s assistant, Zsolt Low, after the game, with players having to step in to drag the pair apart, while Tuchel also recently admitted that star striker Harry Kane is ‘not happy’ with the service he has been receiving from his team-mates.
The German giants return to action this weekend when they host fifth-placed RB Leipzig, and a fourth straight loss could leave Bayern with no option but to make a change.
