Prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the Portuguese captain’s contract with Manchester United was mutually ended.
Ronaldo had fallen out of favor with Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag before to his departure from the Premier League powerhouses.
As his dissatisfaction mounted, so did his frustration as his game time was limited.
Ronaldo, speaking at a press conference in advance of Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifying match against Liechtenstein on Thursday evening, stated that he is a better man since leaving Manchester United.
The former Real Madrid star said, “I have no problem saying I had a bad phase of my career, but there’s no time for regrets
“Life goes on and doing well or not, it was part of my growth. When we are at the top of the mountain, we often cannot see what is below.
“Now, I’m more prepared and learning. That was important because I had never been through this, like in the last few months. Now I’m a better man.”
He added, “It is a different chapter for all of us. The energies are good, and positive. That is the most important thing.
“There’s fresh air now, different ideas and mentality.”
