BREAKING: Peter Obi Threatens To End His Presidential Campaign If……—-Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, has stated that if anyone can prove that he accepted a land gift as governor of Anambra State, he will withdraw his campaign for the 2023 general elections.
The 61-year-old former governor made the remarks on Friday at the palace of Benin’s Oba, Oba Ewuare II, in Edo State.
The LP presidential candidate paid a visit to the revered Benin monarch while campaigning in Edo ahead of the February elections.
Oba Ewuare II used the opportunity to clarify a viral document in which Obi rejected land allocation from the Anambra State Government while he was a serving governor.
“Your Excellency, please show me a letter in which you were given land in your state and politely returned it, stating that you don’t need it; that you are there to serve, and so on.” Correct?” The first-rate monarch inquired. “Very correct,” Obi said.?
“If anyone sees a piece of land allotted to me, my wife, or any of my family members, directly or indirectly when I was governor,” the LP presidential candidate stated.
Obi’s two-term intermittent governorship of Anambra between 2006 and 2014 was marred by legal battles all the way to the Supreme Court.
In the 2019 general elections, Obi was the running mate for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
He, however, left the party in early 2022 and joined the LP, where he won the party’s presidential nomination for 2023.
The former governor is running for Aso Rock in 2023 alongside Atiku, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, and others.?
