Old Pupils of Ireti Primary School, Ikoyi Set to Hold First Alumni Party On Independence Day—-The Old Pupils of Ireti Primary School, Ikoyi, Lagos State will for the first time since leaving the school hold its first Alumni party on Nigeria’s Independence Day celebration, October 1st.
The school, which was founded on February 2nd, 1959 by Mrs. B. A Sodeinde and Mrs. T. Y Abiru commenced educational activities on February 3rd when the first set of pupils were enrolled into the school. The very first set of pupils registered in the school were two boys and three girls.
It commenced operations after receiving the first sets of furniture from Bankole Furniture company which were eighty chairs and twenty tables. The idea of starting the school at the time was to accommodate pupils of parents who couldn’t afford the exorbitant fees to get quality education.
Despite being a school with lesser expensive fees, Ireti primary school prided itself with top rated teaching staff as they were competition with the likes of Corona Schools which was also situated in the highbrow neighbourhood of Ikoyi.
The school grew in strength as all the teachers ensure they enrolled their children, nieces and nephews into the school. Also, pupils of the school had debates with other prestigious private schools in the area and mostly defeated them due to the high-quality education provided by Ireti school.
The very first Alumni gathering has been scheduled to hold on Saturday, October 1st at the School compound in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The Old Pupils Association disclosed that the gathering was necessitated so as to appreciate the solid foundation the school provided for them while growing up as they owe a debt of gratitude to the teachers and are eternally grateful for their services.
The event is billed to be fun-filled as it would have the presence of the old pupils and current pupils of the school interacting and having fun at the school on Independence Day.
