Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has expressed disappointment at the decision of Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Iyiola Omisore, to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the rerun Osun State governorship election.

Fani-Kayode is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His party’s candidate, Ademola Adeleke, had polled 254,698 votes in the governorship election held on Saturday to defeat Gboyega Oyetola of the APC, who polled 254,345 votes.

Omisore came third with 128,049 votes.

The election was, however, declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) due to irregularities and cancellation of 3,498 votes.

A rerun was subsequently fixed for Thursday in areas where Omisore has comparative advantage.

Fani-Kayode had earlier expressed optimism that his fellow Ife man would work for the PDP.

“Iyiola Omisore will not let us down. He is my cousin and I have spoken to him. We are together,” the former minister wrote in a Twitter post on Monday.

Iyiola Omisore will not let us down. He is my cousin and I have spoken to him. We are together. We will show Tinubu what happens when the Ifes stand together. We are going to end the APC's reign of tyranny in the rerun on Thursday. @OfficialPDPNig's Demola Adeleke shall prevail. pic.twitter.com/DqgMm090x5

After meeting with chieftains of both PDP and APC, Omisore announced on Wednesday that his party would support the APC.

That infuriated Fani-Kayode, who was quick to launch an attack on the former deputy governor of Osun State.

He accused him of collecting money from APC chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, to betray the Ife people.

On sat. Adams Oshiomole called Iyiola Omisore a murderer and by wed. he offered him 480 million and the APC senatorial ticket.I trust that Iyiola will remember that dining with the devil is a risky business:the bible says what profiteth a man to gain the world and lose his soul.

The fate of the people of Osun and the outcome of tomorrow's rerun are in the hands of God and not in the hands of any man. No matter what the APC does and no matter who chooses to work for them, God's counsel shall stand, His will shall be done and His name shall be glorified.

Iyiola Omisore's decision to support the APC in tomorrow's rerun is shameful. It is sad that he would seek to deny Ile-Ife the position of Dep. Gov simply for money. He told me he would stand firm 2 days ago and he told our father Baba Ayo Adebanjo the same thing last night..1/2

— Femi Fani-Kayode (@realFFK) September 26, 2018

…I do not know what has turned his head but we shall forge ahead and by God's grace Adeleke will win. There is no excuse or justification for joining or supporting those who treated our people like filth and slaves over the last 8 years and who rigged last saturdays election.
