NNL Match Day 2: City FC Beat FWC Champions FC—City FC of Abuja, on Saturday, defeated Family Worship Centre (FWC Champions FC) also of Abuja 2-1 away, in the 2021/2022 Nigeria National League (NNL) Group A1 Match Day two fixture.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match played at the Area 10 pitch, Abuja, saw the hosts FWC Champions FC’s goal scored by Boslsam Dawi in the 19th minute of play.
While Emmanuel Ihezuorochi scored a brace for City FC in the 53rd and 58 minutes respectively.
The two teams were unable to convert more goal chances, for the game to end at 2-1.
Speaking after the match, The coach of City FC , Sunday Okoachadu, commended the performance of his players, saying ”I am very happy for today’s victory”.
He said his players’ performance in the second half was a hope that came to reality, but still insisted that they would go back to the drawing board and correct the mistakes the players made in the match.
“The players would have scored goals in the first half, but we lost the opportunities. We will go back and put some basic tools into corrections ,” he said.
According to him, his team played to instruction. We are now topping our group A1 with six points. Our first match was against Mighty Jets, we beat them 2-0.
“ I hope to manage my winning run when we meet stronger teams as the league progresses.
“ My team would continue to take the “positives sides of winning” in their subsequent matches,” he said.
He commended his players for showing commitment and resilience, while assuring that his team would not allow “this victory to get into their head; so we are going to maintain the win in Abuja in our next match.
He said that the players and the coaching crew deserved commendation for “a job well-done.’
Meanwhile, NAN reports that EFCC FC would take on FWC champions FC in their third match on Friday, while, City FC would slug it out with OYAH sports FC on Saturday, both at the Area 10 pitch in Abuja.
The other teams in Group A1 that participated in the league are: El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, ABS FC of Ilorin, EFCC FC , OYAH sports FC, Mighty Jets, Sokoto United FC of Sokoto, Yobe Desert Stars of Yobe and Zamfara United of Gusau
