BREAKING: Alex Iwobi And Maduka #Okoye Deactivates IG Comment Section – Nigeria Vs Tunisia—The Genius Media Nigeria reports that The Duo of Alexander Chuka Iwobi and Maduka Okoye, first choice goalkeeper of the Super Eagles, Nigeria men’s senior national football team, has deactivated the comment section of his Instagram account amid death threats.

This reliable platform observed on Monday that users of the popular social media platform could not comment on any of the goalkeeper’s 15 posts on his official page, @madukaokoye. This comes a day after users threatened him with death in his comment section.

Nigeria Vs Tunisia
Recall, on Sunday, the footballer conceded the only goal of Nigeria’s 1-0 loss to Tunisia in a nock-out round at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon.

Blaming him for Nigeria’s exit, users wished him death and alleged that he was distracted by praises he got for his looks.

Here are some of the hurtful comments compiled by TGM:

NOT THE ONLY PLAYER TO BE THREATENED

Okoye was not the only Nigerian player to receive threats following the ousting of the Nigerian team. Alex Iwobi, a second-half substitute, who conceded a free kick and got sent off with a red card, also received threats.

In both their cases, there has been no confirmation that fans made efforts to follow through with the threats. But a similar case almost claimed the house of Kei Kamara, a Sierra Leonean striker.

After Kamara missed an 85th-minute penalty against Equitorial Guinea on Thursday, condemning his side to a 1-0 defeat, displeased fans marched to his house in Sierra Leone to burn it down.

However, security officials were quick to douse the situation. These events show what football fanatics can go to extreme lengths when matches do not go in their favour.

In 1994, Andres Escobar, a Colombian footballer was shot dead after scoring an own goal that eliminated his country from the FIFA world cup tournament.

With her goal, the United States, Colombia’s opponent, ended up winning 2-1. After the June 22, 1994 defeat, he returned to his home country and issued a statement that ‘life doesn’t end here’. But in the wee hours of July 2, 1994, he was shot six times while returning from a bar.
