Reacting to the controversial recent interviews recent interviews where Lukaku said he was not happy with his role at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel, Former England midfielder, Jermaine Jenas has said Belgian’s was never Chelsea manager signing.
According to him, Tuchel never approved the signing of Lukaku but it was the decision of the club’s board.
In an interview with Sky Sports Italia, the Belgium international had said he was not happy at Chelsea and wanted to return to Inter Milan, adding that the Blues was only his fourth choice when he decided to leave San Siro last summer.
Following the controversial comments, Lukaku was dropped from Chelsea’s squad for their crucial encounter with Liverpool on Sunday. The match ended 2-2.
The ex-England midfielder said on BBC, “The thing that worries me out of all of the quotes is: ‘I’m not happy with the situation at Chelsea, that is normal. I think the coach chose to play a different system.’
“That tells me that Thomas Tuchel didn’t want Lukaku, otherwise you’d be buying a £100 million striker to build your team around him.
“This feels like a Chelsea signing rather than a Thomas Tuchel signing and it’s obviously caused some friction between the both of them and that has then led on to a very ill-advised interview which has caused this issue.”
