KDSG And The Ban On Motorcycles In Kaduna State – By Ishaq Alhassan Qauran Mata JNR—-In kaduna state, Schools were shut down for months, when the schools finally opened, the state “dash” students and pupils “third term” and automatically promoted them to the next class.

Today, the state banned motorcycles; public and private. Junior workers who are so poor and cannot afford to pay transport to and from their workplaces collected motorcycle loans, with a ₦500 fuel, they can take their children to school for 1 week, go to their work places and also run some errands. Today, with ₦500, such workers cannot take 3 kids to school and themselves to work.

Teachers who live outside rural areas but teach in rural areas couldn’t go to school today, not because they cannot even afford transport fare but because public transportation is scarce today.

Children trekked to school, even around 10am, you will still spot some children walking to school.

This will go on for 3 months they say!!!

Illiteracy is one of the major drivers of insecurity, the same insecurity government is taking these majors to tackle.

Poverty is another major drive for crimes.

Now, if teachers are finding it hard to go to schools, parents are finding it hard to take their children to school and the pupils are finding it hard to also go to school, aren’t we creating another huge problem?

Now if people in the logistics business (business owners, the people supplying goods and services) are not in business, is this not another major problem?

Yes, we all have to pay a price for us to be secured, but what price? And to what extent?

The price we should collectively pay, shouldn’t be pushing more children out of school or giving desperate people another reason to embrace crime.

We know, the government of kaduna state is not enforcing this laws because they want to, but because they believe it’s the best and the only way out, but if a review can be made, i believe it’s going to make more sense.

May Nigeria succeed!!! 🇳🇬
