  1. The Federal Government yesterday, said it is not foreclosing the possibility of declaring state of emergency in Anambra State. While speaking with State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, said the election must hold.

  2. President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday met with former President, Goodluck Jonathan. The meeting was held behind closed doors inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja, after the meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by the president.

  1. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to perish the thought of imposing a state of emergency in Anambra State. National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan alleged that the move by thevFG to foist an emergency rule in Anambra was a ploy by the APC-led government to suppress the people, manipulate the process and rig the governorship election for the APC and its candidate.
  1. At least, 10 worshippers were killed when bandits struck in Yasore community in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Tuesday. The victims were said to be observing Magrib prayer when the bandits opened fire on them. SP Gambo Isah, Police Public Relations Officer in the state confirmed the incident on Wednesday.

  2. A section of the Federal Secretariat in Abuja was on Wednesday evening gutted by fire, with several cars reportedly burnt. The cause of the fire which started around 5 pm at the generator house could not be ascertained yet but the Federal Fire Service and the Federal Capital Territory FCT Fire Service we’re, however, mobilized to the scene to quench the inferno.

  3. A middle-aged man, Kenneth Nwoha, has killed his wife, Mercy, and six-year-old son, Sampson in a machete attack at Isiofumini Isieke Community in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. It was also gathered that after killing his wife and son, Nwoha moved into the street where he also attacked six other persons.

  1. The World Bank has raised its 2021 economic growth forecast for Nigeria to 2.4 percent. The Bank disclosed this yesterday in the latest edition of its Africa’s Pulse Report. It also increased Sub-Saharan Africa’s (SSA) growth by one per cent to 3.3 per cent from its previous 2.3 per cent growth projection for 2021.

  2. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Wednesday, said his administration does not keep militia as recently claimed by the opposition in the state. The Governor who made the clarification when he received the Chairman Middle-belt Brain Trust, MBT and former Chief of Defence Staff, General Martin Luther Agwai (retd) and his delegation in Makurdi, said it was evil for anyone to make such allegation.

  3. A 23-year-old student of Botany at Bayero University, Kano, Sakina Bello was abducted along Janbulo and Rijiyar Zaki area of the Kano metropolis on Tuesday. Spokesman for Kano Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa who confirmed the incident, said the police received a report of a missing person around 3pm on Tuesday and started investigating the matter immediately.

  1. The World Health Organisation has described as ‘historic’ the malaria vaccine developed in Africa and by African scientists, and recommended for children in sub-Saharan Africa. Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, said this at a news conference on Wednesday at the UN headquarters in New York.
