BREAKING: I’ve Asked Military To Deal With Biafrans Like That Of 1967–1970 Civil War – Buhari—-During an exclusive Arise TV interview on Thursday morning, President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed that his administration will deal with violent secession agitators the same way Nigerian troops dealt with Biafran secessionists during the 1967–1970 Nigerian civil war.
PMB was quoted saying:
“As I’ve said, we are going to teach them in the language they will understand. We have given the police and the military the power to be ruthless and you watch it, there will be a difference because we told them that if we keep people away from their farms, we are going to starve.
“And the government cannot control the public. If we allow hunger to permeate the society, the government is going to be in trouble. We are already in enough trouble, so we’ve warned them [and] sooner or later you will see the difference”
THE WHISTLER had reported that while receiving briefing from the management of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the burning of the commission’s offices across the country, President Buhari had warned that “These attacks are totally unacceptable, and we will not allow those behind them to achieve their evil objectives.”
The president had said that his administration, “will demand security” from the country’s new Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police, stressing that “There must be zero tolerance for all those bent on destroying our country by promoting crime and insurrection!”
Buhari had made reference to the Biafra-Nigerian civil war to buttress his warning to those attacking INEC offices across the country.
He said, “Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”
