REVEALED: Why Our Surveillance Cameras Stopped Working By 8pm, No Audio – LCC Tells Judicial Panel – #LekkiMassacre—-Abayomi Omomuwa, the Managing Director of the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) has claimed before the Judicial panel on Tuesday that the surveillance camera at the tollgate stopped working at 8pm on October 20th, the day soldiers allegedly opened fire on #EndSARS protesters.

While submitting the footage to the Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by the Lagos State to probe the Lekki shootings,  Omomuwa also added that they did not activate audio recording, as the cameras were used for traffic not security.

 

REVEALED: Why Our Surveillance Cameras Stopped Working By 8pm, No Audio - LCC Tells Judicial Panel - #LekkiMassacreAccording to him, the other surveillance cameras, a pan–tilt–zoom camera (PTZ camera) also exists and is still intact. “We never, ever tampered with the surveillance camera until about 8pm, when it was tampered with and stopped recording,” he said without disclosing who could have had access to their office to tamper with it.

 

The LCC MD also added that they have three surveillance cameras: at the Lekki toll gate, one at Ikoyi, and another at Chevron. The cameras are linked via a network, controlled from Chevron.

 

Speaking about the cameras that were allegedly removed, Omomuwa confirmed that those ones removed before the shooting were plate number recognition cameras “early in the day”.
