BREAKING: Unknown Gunmen Storm Kwara Community To Loot Phone Shops
Suspected terrorists riding motorcycles on Saturday night stormed Gada Oli village, near Wawa and not far from Woro in Kwara State, firing gunshots into the air and looting shops.
Witnesses said the attackers invaded the community late in the evening, causing panic among residents who fled for safety.
The Genius Media Nigeria reports that a resident who spoke to journalists said the assailants rode into the village, shooting sporadically to disperse people before targeting business premises.
He said, “They entered the community on motorbikes and started shooting in the air to chase people away. After people ran, they entered phone stores and took phones.”
Community sources who spoke with Sahara Reporters confirmed that no casualties were recorded during the raid, though several mobile devices were carted away.
The latest incident has reignited fears in the area, coming months after a deadly attack in February 2026 on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area.
During that assault, suspected Boko Haram militants reportedly rode into the villages on motorcycles, surrounded them in the evening and opened fire from multiple directions.
Eyewitnesses said those attempting to flee were shot, while others were rounded up at the palace of the village head and executed.
Homes were set ablaze, shops looted, and dozens abducted. Reports at the time put the death toll at well over 160, with some sources estimating more than 200 fatalities. At least 50 others were said to have sustained injuries.
Following the February massacre, survivors accused security forces of failing to prevent the attack.
Some residents alleged that troops deployed after the incident focused more on mounting roadblocks and extorting locals than pursuing the attackers.
