BREAKING: Tiwa Savage Launches Music Foundation With Berklee College [DETAILS]
Global music star Tiwa Savage has launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, a non-profit initiative aimed at supporting young music creators in Africa.
The foundation was unveiled on Wednesday in Lagos, Nigeria.
On her Instagram page, Tiwa said the foundation is designed to provide education, mentorship and industry connections to emerging artists. “After years of building globally.. It’s time to build at home, Introducing the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation,” she wrote.
The foundation’s flagship programme, Berklee In Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program, will take place from April 23 to April 26, in Lagos. The four-day course is organised in partnership with Berklee College of Music, one of the most respected music schools in the world.
The programme will give 100 selected participants the chance to train in areas such as music production, songwriting, sound engineering and the business of music. All accepted participants will receive instruction based on Berklee’s professional musicianship curriculum.
There is no tuition fee for those accepted to the programme, though participants will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation in Lagos. Applications are open until March 20.
Speaking on the launch, Tiwa said the music industry needs structured support beyond performance to grow sustainably. “Afrobeats has captured the world’s attention but an industry cannot stand on artists alone,” she said. “Behind every global sound is an ecosystem of producers, engineers, entertainment lawyers, publishers, innovators, composers … these are the architects of structure, ownership and longevity.”
The foundation aims to build pathways for creatives not only in Nigeria but across Africa, giving them access to world-class music education and industry opportunities.
