BREAKING: Cubana Chief Priest Declares To Contest For House Of Reps Seat In 2027 On APC Platform
Popular socialite and nightlife entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu, famously known as Cubana Chief Priest, has officially declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
The “Celebrity Barman,” who has long been a close ally of the Imo State government, disclosed that he would be running on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This move, according to him, was a strategic decision aimed at using the machinery of the federal government to advocate for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Explaining his choice to stick with the ruling party despite the prevailing political sentiments in the region, the social media influencer emphasised that being in the opposition limits one’s ability to influence high-level executive decisions.
“I no fit help Maazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition. I have always been an APC,” he stated. “My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG Renewed Hope.”
The businessman further clarified his past political movements, addressing his visible support for the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the 2023 cycle.
He noted that while he championed the “Obidient” cause at the time, he did so while serving as a Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
However, he made it clear that his loyalty had now fully shifted back to the centre and the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Last election, as Special Adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi, but this time I dey with Asiwaju,” he added.
Chief Priest described his 2027 ambition as a “deliberate move” to transition from social media influencing to active governance, arguing that the South-East needs young, influential voices within the system to negotiate for the region’s interests effectively.
