TikToker Peller has said he lost a $3,000 bet after the Super Eagles were eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final.

Nigeria and Morocco played to a 0‑0 draw after regular and extra time, but Morocco won the penalty shootout 4‑2 to reach the final.

In a video online, Peller said he did not realise his bet would be voided after 90 minutes. He added, “My $3000 has gone! I don’t understand. God please.”

He expressed pain and said he left the stadium where he had been watching the match.

The Super Eagles had entered the semi-final unbeaten, winning all five matches and scoring 14 goals. They topped Group C and beat Algeria 2‑0 in the quarter-final, with goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams.

Morocco will face Senegal in the final, while Nigeria will play Egypt in the third-place match.

Peller was not the only celebrity affected. Singer Davido also said he lost $50,000 on the game. Some fans criticised players during the shootout, including Samuel Chukwueze, who missed his penalty.

Despite the loss, Nigeria will aim to secure third place in the tournament.
