Netizens Roast Victor Osimhen After On-Field Clash With Ademola Lookman In AFCON 2025 Win
Nigerian football fans have slammed Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for his angry confrontation with teammate Ademola Lookman during Monday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 round of 16 clash against Mozambique, PlatinumPost reports.
The incident occurred in the 63rd minute after Lookman missed a chance while Osimhen was in an open position. Despite having already assisted Osimhen twice—once directly and another via Akor Adams—Lookman became the target of Osimhen’s visible frustration.
In footage circulating online, Osimhen is seen pulling away from captain Wilfred Ndidi, pointing at Lookman, and shouting in pidgin English, “No try am again,” meaning “do not try that again.” Shortly afterward, Osimhen requested a substitution and was booed by fans as Moses Simon replaced him.
The outburst sparked widespread criticism on social media platform X, with fans questioning the striker’s attitude despite Nigeria’s dominant 4-0 performance. Influencer Emma Ik Umeh (@emmaikumeh) commented, “Victor Osimhen had a quarrel with his teammate Lookman… he should f**k off with this nonsense attitude.”
Other fans echoed the sentiment:
- Godwin Wilson: “Very silly behaviour as usual. Nonsense.”
- Oladapo Omolade: “I really don’t understand why the guy is behaving like that… he needs to calm down.”
- Victor Adeboje: “Very irritating.”
- Edwin Uka: “Can you imagine the attitude he displayed there? Mtcheeeew.”
- Bigrated (@the_boy_rated): “The guy too proud, he thinks he’s better than everyone in the team.”
- Stanley Ogb (@stanogbo97): “Very unprofessional of Osimhen… He got some attitude problem right there.”
Despite the controversy, Osimhen scored a brace, while Lookman contributed two assists and a goal, helping Nigeria cruise into the AFCON 2025 quarter-finals with their fourth consecutive victory. The Super Eagles will now face either Algeria or DR Congo in the last eight, as they chase their first AFCON title since 2013
