Apostle Michael Olowookere says Nigeria cannot win the war against terrorism because “terrorists are the ones ruling.”
His comments were captured in a short video circulating on X, where he also claimed that a terrorist responsible for bomb attacks that killed many people in Abuja was at one time linked to the residence of Kashim Shettima.
In the clip, widely shared on X on Wednesday, the cleric claimed that the fight against terrorism cannot succeed because, according to him, “terrorists are the ones ruling.” He specifically alleged that a terrorist who “bombed and killed many Nigerians in Abuja” was at one time linked to the residence of Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Olowo’s comments come amid Nigeria’s prolonged struggle with terrorism and violent extremism, including Boko Haram’s insurgency in the Northeast, bandit attacks across the Northwest, and ISWAP activities in several regions. These groups have carried out mass killings, kidnappings, bombings, and targeted assaults on both civilians and security forces for more than a decade, leaving thousands dead and millions displaced.
The allegations were circulated by X user Somto Okonkwo, who shared the video with a caption highlighting the cleric’s remarks on the killings of Christians in Nigeria. The footage shows Olowo speaking during a programme as he expressed concern over persistent insecurity.
