FRESH; Regina Daniels Kinsmen Give Ned Nwoko 48 Hours To Accept Bride Price
Kinsmen of actress Regina Daniels have given her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, 48 hours to accept the return of the bride price paid on her and stop allegedly harassing her family members.
In an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State, the kinsmen accused Ned of disrespecting their traditions and using his influence to intimidate Regina’s family.
“With due respect to your office and person, we must express deep disappointment over your recent actions concerning our sister and her family. As a people, we value peace, fairness, and respect for our cultural traditions,” the letter read in part.
They explained that according to Ogwashi-Uku custom, marriage is not by force and when a woman decides to leave, her family must return the bride price. They said Regina’s family had made efforts to do so, but Ned allegedly refused to accept it.
The community stated that if he continues to decline, the bride price would be deposited at Ikeleke Quarter in Ogwashi-Uku, an act that would traditionally end the marriage.
They also condemned the reported arrest and intimidation of Regina’s relatives, describing it as “oppressive and an affront to our people and long-standing traditions.”
The letter, which was shared on Instagram by Regina’s elder brother, Sweezzy, and actor Stanley Ontop, called on Nwoko to restore peace by respecting custom and ensuring the release of all affected family members.
Regina earlier this week accused her estranged husband of ordering the arrest of her brother and sister after she refused to return to him.
Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko married in 2019 and have two sons together.
As of press time, Ned Nwoko has not responded to the letter.
